Start Your Journey @ Port Programme
As a market leader in Hong Kong, HIT is committed to nurturing future talent for the container port industry. One of the initiatives is the establishment of the Start Your Journey @ Port Programme.

This programme provides a variety of learning opportunities for tertiary and secondary students. It aims to enhance students’ industrial knowledge and nurture their passion for developing their career in the industry through diverse learning experiences, including seminars, placements, scholarships and terminal visits. We also offer structured development programmes to support young graduates to embark on their career journey at HIT.

In addition, “Hongkong International Terminals Scholarship (Engineering Studies)” was established specifically to support students who are pursuing designated Higher Diploma (HD) programmes in the IVE Engineering Department. We aim to engage the HD students to join HIT in two stages:

Stage 1 3-month industrial placement Scholarship
HK$10,000
Stage 2 12-month Engineering development programme under full-time employment upon graduation Scholarship
HK$10,000

We target to offer 4 scholarships in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Dock School Programme (1)
Dock School Programme
Dock School was introduced in 1992 with the aim of providing support and assistance to the schools in the port’s vicinity, especially those with financial challenges.  In addition to offering direct financial support and purchase of school facilities, our local teams also initiate a wide range of educational activities to foster students’ potential and provide learning experiences beyond the classroom. These activities include terminal visits, training programmes, work placements, scholarships and environmental related activities

Hongkong International Terminals Limited (HIT) actively participates in the programme and has been supporting our Dock School, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), Tsing Yi, since 2009.  Every year, HIT and IVE jointly organise a General and Logistics Knowledge Contest and arrange terminal visit for students to enhance their understanding of the supply chain and logistics industry. We also extend support to final year students in logistics-related disciplines, enabling them to participate in the Shipping Project Competition

Starting from 2024, Youth College joins us as HIT Dock School.  We offer scholarship to students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance in engineering disciplines. At the same time, through apprenticeship training programmes and career talks, they will be able to gain practical experience and develop a better understanding of their future career paths.
Kwai Tsing District Youth Community Service Competition
HIT has been sponsoring this competition since 1998. Secondary school students in the Kwai Tsing district form teams to plan community service activities. They present their proposal to a panel of judges and receive a limited budget to carry out their idea. The teams are judged based on their ideas, presentation methods and result of their project.
